As Rwanda moves forward with its clean energy transition, initiatives such as the Kigali Green City and the Rwanda Green Fund are leading the way in promoting sustainable development. In line with these efforts, Solektra has recently implemented a significant project at Sawa Citi Supermarket in Kigali: the installation of a 20kW solar PV system, paired with a 10kWh battery backup.

Funded by the Climate Emergency Collaboration Group (CECG) and the Integrate to Zero project, this solar installation aims to reduce the supermarket’s reliance on grid power and provide reliable backup during outages, supporting the Rwandan government’s vision for a sustainable energy future. In addition, the project includes the deployment of two electric motorcycles for deliveries, contributing to the shift towards greener transportation solutions.
